Performance History


Kathryn began her formal musical education at age 5 on the flute, completing her AMusA on her 15th birthday, in 2002. She completed an Honours year of her Bachelor of Music Performance in 2009 at the Melbourne University-Victorian College of the Arts and Music with first class Honours.


In 2018 Kathryn made her soloist debut at the Sydney Opera House in Opera Australia's "Great Opera Hits". In 2019 Kathryn is looking forward to playing roles with Opera Australia in "Il Viaggio a Reims", and Victorian Opera's "Parsifal" and "Barber of Seville".


Roles Kathryn has performed in 2017 include the role of The Nightingale in Victorian Opera's "Sleeping Beauty" (Respighi) ,  "The Queen" in Victorian Opera's "The Princess and the Pea" (Toch), and Frasquita and a cover of Michaela in Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's "Carmen" (Bizet).


Roles Kathryn has performed in 2016 include: Hen- “The Cunning Little Vixen” (Janáček) for Vienna State Opera. Cover of the following for VSO: Ortlinde- “Die Walkure” (Wagner), Pamina- “Die Zauberflote” (Mozart), Erste Elfe- “Rusalka” (Dvořák), Fiordiligi- “Cosi Fan Tutte” (Mozart), Pousette- “Manon” (Massanet), Echo- “Ariadne auf Naxos” (Strauss), Priesterin- “Aida” (Puccini), Zweites Blumenmadchen- “Parsifal” (Wagner).

 Kathryn has also performed the following roles: Pamina- “The Magic Flute” (Mozart) for OA National Tour (2015), The Governess in The Turn of the Screw by Britten (2014), Opera Australia principal artist for Oz Opera: Queen of the Night, Pamina, Papagena, and First Lady in The Magic Flute by Mozart (2012) and Mother, Witch and Sand Fairy in Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck (2011). Kathryn has also performed the role of Daisy in the Australian premiere of Contact, a new work by Angus Grant for The Arts Centre Melbourne (2012, 2011), Ernesta in a new Australian production LOL Opera by Nina Sofo, (2010) Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart (2009), Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (2008), and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart including a live radio broadcast on ABC classic FM (2008).
​She has joined the Opera Australia Chorus for Madame Butterfly by Puccini (2014), Carmen by Bizet (2014, 2013), Tosca by Puccini (2014, 2013), La Forza del Destino by Verdi (2013), and Les pêcheurs de perles by Bizet (2011). Kathryn has won prizes in the following Competitions: Opera Foundation Australia Vienna State OPera Award (2015), Herald Sun Aria- First Prize (2014), 3MBS Victorian Young Performer of the Year Award (2014), Bel Canto Award Finalist (2014), Musical Society of Victoria Armstead Prize (2014), American-Australian Association Dame Joan Sutherland Fund (2014), Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and Opera and Arts Vocal Scholarship (Finalist 2013). Hawaiian Performing Arts Festival Prize (from The Bel Canto Award 2013), South Eastern Arts Festival Aria (First Prize 2012), Macdonald Aria and Australian Singing Competition (Semifinalist 2012), Herald Sun Aria (Finalist 2011), Boroondara Aria and Warrnambool Aria (First Prizes in 2011), Manningham Aria, West Gippsland Aria and Eisteddfod by The Bay Aria (First Prizes in 2010), Opera Australia Young Artist Program (Semi-finalist 2009).
